The article presents an ecological risk assessment on the uses of the organophosphorus insecticide chiorpyrifos (CPY) for aquatic organisms in the U.S. It explores the widespread use of CPY insecticide and its impact to species sensitivity distributions (SSDs) and toxicity values based on measured and modeled concentrations in aquatic environments. It reveals high values of toxicity in the SSD data with acute effects on crustacean species, aquatic insects, and fishes.
