Objective: Literature indicates a generally deteriorated mental condition of patients with ICD, which involves inclination to depressiveness and anxiety, in particular. It also defines risk factors deteriorating this condition. The objective of the article is to describe the relation of anxiety and depressiveness in patients with ICD depending on basic sociodemographic variables, and to describe development of depressiveness and anxiety in patients with ICD in the course of time. Method: The research used the technique of standardized questionnaires measuring depressiveness (Beck depression inventory) and anxiety (Beck anxiety inventory). The questionnaire was administered a day after the surgery and then after nine months from the surgery as a retest. The research set consisted of 43 patients of the Cardio Centre in České Budějovice who had ICD and were mostly diagnosed with ischemic heart disease. Results: The results showed 34.9% of depressive patients in both tests and 97.6% of patients with anxiety (sig. 0,000, BID r=0,831, BIU r=0,554). There was a strong correlation between the depressiveness and anxiety scores. In the first test, women showed a higher degree of depressiveness and anxiety than men (BID sig. 0,036, F=4,728, BIU sig. 0,033, F=4,845), and unemployed persons showed a higher score of depressiveness and anxiety than employed persons (BID sig. 0,000, F=8,082, BID2 sig. 0,010, F=4,385; BIU sig. 0,008, F=4,557 BIU2 sig. 0,014, F=4,028). By contrast, no statistic connection between mental problems and age was proven. Conclusion: This article describes the process of development of depression and anxiety at the time and (in)dependence of these psychological problems on demographic indicators. Setting the proper interventions we find as a relevant solution of described mental problems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Cíl: Literatura uvádí obecně zhoršený psychický stav u pacientů s implantabilními kardiovertery-defibrilátory (dále jen ICD) s příklonem především k depresivitě a anxiozitě. 0,000, BID r = 0,831, BIU r = 0,554). V rámci prvního testu ženy vykazovaly vyšší míru depresivity a anxiozity než muži (BID sig. 0,036, F = 4,728, BIU sig. 0,033, F = 4,845), dále osoby, které nebyly zaměstnány, vykazovaly vyšší skóre depresivity i anxiozity oproti zaměstnaným osobám (BID sig. 0,000, F = 8,082, BID2 sig. 0,010, F = 4,385; BIU sig. 0,008, F = 4,557 BIU2 sig. 0,014, F = 4,028). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
