With the study of relative clauses, I answer positively to both questions: LSF has a sophisticated fine-grained system that displays externally (1a) and internally headed relative clauses (1b). LSF has two relative pronouns, pi and person-cl, which can introduce relative clauses and whose distribution affects the interpretation of the relative clause itself. 1.2 Processing relative clauses in French Sign Language In the spoken language literature, subject relative clauses (SRCs) have been repeatedly shown to be understood quicker and more accurately than object relative clauses (ORCs), both across relativization strategies (pre- versus post-nominal externally headed relative clauses) and across word orders (see [13], a.o.).
