A family of Lanthanide Sulfates, namely, Ln(SO 4)F(H 2 O) (Ln = Sm 1; Eu 2; Gd 3), have been prepared using a conventional hydrothermal method. These crystals are isomorphic and crystalize in monoclinic space group P 2(1) /n (No. 10). Their structure can be described as a ladderlike 3D lanthanide sulfate framework composed of a simple chain LnO 6 F 2 along the crystallographic b- axis further bridged via sulfate units. Ln(SO 4)F(H 2 O) present the characteristic emission peaks of lanthanide ions, respectively. The results from magnetic measurements show three compounds display antiferromagnetic behavior between magnetic centers. TA family of Lanthanide Sulfates featuring a ladderlike 3D Lanthanide sulfate framework have been synthesized and structurally characterized.
