TPS 31A beamline utilizing wiggler source W100 is designed for the application of projection X-ray microscopy (PXM) and transmission X-ray microscopy (TXM). The high flux of the wiggler source is benefit for the excellent temporal resolution of images. Nevertheless, the large heat load induces severe thermal-deformation and big slope error of the optics in consequence degrades the uniformity of the images seriously. The vertical collimating mirror (VCM) is the first optical element of this beamline, and the absorbed heat load will be up to 112 W. Its thermal deformations should be well-controlled for optimizing the energy resolution of the double crystal monochromator (DCM) and the image quality. Deliberately, top-side water cooling method was adopted to minimize the thermal deformation of the VCM. The thermal slope error in an optimized top-side water cooled VCM can be reaches less than 0.8 µrad of magnitude compared to a non-optimized VCM. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
