More than half of the global population now lives in suburban regions, converting fertile rice fields into non-agricultural purposes. This situation can treat food security in this region. Most recommended technologies for increasing rice production are for irrigated low-land rice but still lack information for mid-elevation, particularly for suburban areas. Bandung is a case suburb city that used to be a rice production center in the mid-elevation (∼700 m above sea level). Here, we study recommended technology to increase rice production in two sub-districts (Ciparay) using technology for rice production. We used appraisal participation to describe the rice production technology needs of the farmers. We introduced rice production technology such as nutrient fertilizer management (LKP = Layanan Konsultasi Padi), newly released varieties, and planting methods in the dry season 2021. The experiments were set up using researcher-managed experiments (mother trials) and farmers-managed experiments (baby trials). We found that the best fertilizer recommendation was LKP, with an average yield of 8.4 t/ha, and the best planting method was 30 cm x 30 cm compared to Legowo system. Meanwhile, 33 corporate farmers had grain yield variation in the babies' trials of 5.4 to 8.4 t/ha. We recommend that the introduced technology follow the proven existing technology combined with the modified technology informed in this study. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
