Ferroelectricity was induced in SrTiO 3 by exchanging Pr for Sr ion in the A site of the perovskite ABX 3 -type structure. The x-ray diffraction shows that the progressive replacement of the Sr for Pr ion produces a compressed lattice. Measurements of the permittivity show a peak at about ∼⃒ 240°C and the ferroelectricity is confirmed by the presence of hysteresis in polarization measurements at room temperature.
