The article presents information about the history of MGM Medical College in Indore, India. Indore Charitable Hospital was built on the recommendation of British Resident R. Hamilton. The hospital building had a Central room with two wards large enough to accommodate 25 beds each. Ruler of Indore Tukoji Rao Holkar-II gave grants for the expenses incurred in building the hospital. E. Imprey was its first superintendent. There was lack of special facilities for female patients. E. Imprey got another building constructed for female patients keeping their natural modesty and purdah system in mind.
