The article presents a study concerning the molecular signals underlying whole body generation (WBR) by examining the phenomenon in the sea squirt Botrylloides leachi, which are recognized as one of the closest relatives to vertebrates. Several novel features of WBR have been identified. The researchers likewise found an unusual mode of regeneration. It has been noted that Botrylloides leachi has unique modes for propagating and regenerating that make this species a robust model organism.
