The article presents a study on the genetically encoded protein fusion that can be reversibly activated by blue light. It references studies by M. Machacek and colleagues on Rho GTPase activities, and by Y. I. Wu and colleages on photoactivatable Rac controls in the 2009 issue of "Nature." It notes that they used photoreactive light oxygen voltage (LOV) as the cage. Moreover, it states that Wu and collegaes hope that the LOV has the general structure as a general caging tool.
