The article discusses a study describing the transformational leadership (TL) practices of Magnet chief nursing officers (CNOs), whose characteristics are integral for achieving clinical quality and patient care outcomes. It confers The American Nurses Credentialing Centre (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program, which emphasizes CNO as a transformational leader, with TL practices, a core component of Magnet Model, including, creating a shared vision, inspiring and empowering others to lead. It also discusses an e-mail survey of 384 Magnet CNOs, using the leadership practices inventory (LPI), conducted in 2011. Also included are findings of the study, suggesting Magnet Organizations to retain CNOs and support their progress, as they exhibit more TL traits with more experience.
