Four cadmium coordination polymers modulated by bis(triazol-1-yl)propane and inorganic anions: Syntheses, structures and properties

Abstract: Four cadmium(II) coordination polymers [Cd(btp)(N3)2] n (1), [Cd(btp)(dca)2(H2O)] n (2), {[Cd(btp)3](ClO4)2} n (3) and {[Cd(btp)3](BF4)2} n (4) were synthesized using flexible ligand 1,3-bis(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)propane (btp) and inorganic anions N3 −, dicyanamide (dca), ClO4 − and BF4 −. In 1, each Cd(II) atom is connected by two double EE-azide ligands and two single btp ligands and extend to form an unusual 2D network. 2 is comprised of 2D (4,4) coordination networks and a 3D supramolecular network through the hydrogen bond interactions of intra and inter-2D layers. The structure of 3 and 4 form the one-dimensional triple chains where adjacent Cd(II) atoms are connected through triple btp bridges. Each triple chain [Cd(btp)3] n is surrounding by six identical chains and construct the beautiful rosette-like structure with trigonal channels which are occupied by anions ClO4 − in 3 and BF4 − in 4. The btp ligands show the gauche–gauche conformation in 1, 3 and 4, the anti–gauche conformation in 2. The coordination anions (N3 − and dca)/the non-coordinated anions (ClO4 − and BF4 −) and the conformation of btp ligands play a key role in the assembly of topologies. The luminescence and thermal stability of 1–4 were observed. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
