The article looks into the reverse osmosis desalination plant development and wastewater redesign projects in Hong Kong aimed to reduce its reliance on Southern China's Dongjiang river basin for the bulk of its water supply. Data shows the total water demand of Hong Kong in 2012 and the measures under the Total Water Management Strategy.
