Our Grandparents' School Lesson -- Handwriting in 1930 is the most frequently conducted museum lesson at the Slovenian School Museum. The reason why primary school teachers like to choose the experience of this particular lesson is in the skills that were once nurtured in handwriting lessons, which in today's school system remain in the background. The article presents the history of the once mandatory primary school subject of handwriting, its development from introduction to decline and the fundamental principles, methods and rules of handwriting lessons, on the basis of which the script for the museum school lesson was created.
