Leading oral solid dosage (OSD) contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs) are expanding their capabilities to meet the increasing demand for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) with complex chemistries. Poor solubility of APIs is a major challenge, with over 80% of current pipeline candidates being poorly soluble. CDMOs are investing in technologies such as controlled release, hot melt extrusion, and specialized excipient particle design to improve solubility and bioavailability. Patient-centered issues like dose frequency and compliance are also driving the development of OSDs, which offer convenience and familiarity to patients. The global OSD contract manufacturing market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 5.97% from 2024 to 2030, with the Asia Pacific region expected to have the largest growth. [Extracted from the article]
