Australia's national food standards agency, Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ), is investigating potential contamination of spices manufactured by Indian brands Everest and MDH. This comes after food safety agencies in Hong Kong and Singapore issued recalls on three spice mixes from the brands due to the presence of the pesticide ethylene oxide. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has also announced plans to investigate the potential contamination. MDH has denied the claims, stating that they do not use ethylene oxide in any stage of their spice production. Everest has not responded to requests for comment. [Extracted from the article]
