The article reports on the plan of Xcel Energy to build a larger clean-coal plant in Colorado, about 600 MW, instead of the initially proposed 350 MW. The plant would be the nation's largest integrated gasification combined cycle project if approved by state regulators. $3.5 million was committed by Xcel for the preliminary development of the plant in 2006. Many believe that the clean-coal technology is one of the most environmentally friendly technologies for electricity production.
