The article discusses whether the use of laser peripheral iridotomy (LPI) in angle closure is enough. According to Dr. Sunita Radhakrishnan of the Glaucoma Center of San Francisco, the effectiveness of LPI depends upon the stage of the disease and mechanism of angle closure. LPI is only effective for treating eyes with pupillary block, with additional treatment for patients with primary angle closure (PAC) or PAC glaucoma (PACG).
