In the Romanian town of Nădlac live at the present time more than ten ethnic groups, the most impor-tant ethnic communities being represented by the Slovaks and Romanians. The Slovak settlement took place between 1803-1805. The cornerstone of the present Lutheran rite church was laid on May 3,1812 and the first school of confessional evangelicalism was built in 1804 in Nă-dlac. One of the main concerns of the Slovak commu-nity was preserving their ethnic and religious culture. In order to fulfill this goal they have created several cultural associations and in present time, the whole town celebrated in 2003 the bicentennial of the arri-val of the Slovaks with a number of scientific and cul-tural events. In 2012 the community celebrated the bicentennial Slovak Evangelical-Lutheran church and in 2013 the town of Nădlac marked 210 years of Slovak settlement in the area of the Mureş River as a mo-del of cultural diversity and social integration.
