A recent study conducted at the Hospital of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Kaunas Clinics examined the efficacy of cytomegalovirus-specific immunoglobulins (CMVIG) in managing CMV reactivation in high-risk hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients. CMV infection is a common and significant challenge following stem cell transplantation, and if left untreated, it can lead to adverse outcomes. The study found that CMVIG was effective in achieving complete remission in all patients without the need for additional antiviral therapy. The use of CMVIG was well-tolerated and should be considered a valuable therapeutic tool for controlling viral load and preventing further complications. [Extracted from the article]
