THE trickle of business people trying to duck Alistair Darling's Capital Gains Tax overhaul is turning into a flood. London Stock Exchange chief executive Clara Furse sold her £5.1m stake in the firm to husband Richard to pre-empt a hike in the CGT rate to 18% that takes effect on April 6. By selling her holding before the end of the tax year Furse is locking in gains at the current 10% minimum rate. LSE shares rose 74p to 1282p. There was also action at the helm of Debenhams as boss Rob Templeman gifted 250,000 shares to wife Jennifer and chief operating officer Michael Sharp gave his other half Elaine 60,758 shares. The department store's shares rose half a penny to 57¼. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
