The article explores the impact of chronic total coronary occlusion (CTO) on the occurrence of ventricular arrhythmias and long-term mortality in recipients of implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) for the sudden cardiac death (SCD) prevention. About 18% of the 162 patients had appropriate device therapy during follow-up. CTO was also linked with higher mortality rates and higher ventricular arrhythmia. Using multivariable analysis, CTO was associated with appropriate ICD intervention.
