In this essay, the author provides his thoughts on the future of the Rastafari movement and reflects on predictions he made about the religion in the 1980s. He notes a decrease in committed believers and a lack of Rastafari political activity in Jamaica, along with a stagnant Rastafari intellectual class. Particular focus is given to the development of Rasta social theory, especially its thought on Jamaican Pan-Africanist Marcus Garvey, Pan-Africanism, and natural food.
