The empirical relationship between giant branch color (B-Y)O,g and high abundances of Fe/H in globular clusters is analyzed. In the analysis data for 34 different globular clusters are used to derive reddening values and the mean spectroscopic errors for E(B - V). Good agreement was found between the empirical relation and a relation derived from stellar evolution theory. The relation implies Fe/H abundances of 0.6 (+ or - 0.2) for the clusters M71 and 47 Tuc. This result is compared with results obtained from high-resolution spectroscopy of red giants in globular clusters, and some of the possible effects of nonsolar abundance ratios on the Fe/H (B - V) calibration are discussed.
