Multimodal fission of 252Cf in the Gogny HFB model

The potential energy surface of the 252Cf nucleus has been computed within the Hartree–Fock–Bogolubov theory with the D1S Gogny force. The shape evolution of the nucleus during the fission process has been studied with constraints on quadrupole, octupole and hexadecapole moments. The calculation was performed up to the scission configuration.
