Design and Analysis of a Dual-Band CPW fed Microstrip Patch Antenna

This manuscript proposed a dual band Co-planer fed (CPW) microstrip antenna having two bands resonating at 1.8 GHz and 5.2 GHz with each band exhibits a bandwidth of 1.2 GHz. The detail parametric analysis, on varying the various parameter linked with the antenna, is done to optimize its performance. It is observed that the optimization of bandwidth and return loss together is a challenge. There is a trade-off between bandwidth and return loss to get the best design for antenna. This manuscript, based on parametric analysis, not only best design for the antenna with dual bands of almost equal bandwidth and return loss is proposed, but also some other interesting observations are concluded. Finally, the best design is fabricated and characterized. A close agreement is observed between experimental and simulated bandwidth and return loss.
