Although many of the contributions by Joe Hair are anonymous in the sense that people who benefited do not know him personally, perhaps no area of contribution is more personal than the positive effect he had on a set of doctoral students who got their academic feet wet at LSU in and around the 1980s. In fact, the legacy of students who went on to become successful faculty (in teaching, research, and administrative roles) makes clear the ripple effect of contributions. Students of the faculty left behind also benefit indirectly from the learning climate created in that time and space.
