The kinetics of the processes of reducing tetragonal PbO to Pb has been studied by the linear sweep voltammetry ( lsv ) technique. It was found that the reduction processes of tetragonal PbO are controlled by OH − ion diffusion through the PbSO 4 membrane besides the limitation of the nucleation and growth mechanism. In its reduction, a dissolution-deposition mechanism has been put forward and the process of the transformation of the tetragonal PbO into basic lead sulfates are discussed.
