In this article, a novel coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed triple-band antenna for WLAN/WiMAX is proposed. The proposed antenna is simply composed of three arc-shaped strips and is capable of generating three separate resonant modes with good impedance matching conditions. The effects of varying the dimension on the proposed antenna performance were also studied. Prototypes of the proposed antenna were constructed and experimentally studied. The experiment results show that the proposed antenna covers 1.66–2.71, 2.95–4.54, and 5.02–6.10 GHz with −10 dB return loss, covering all the 2.4/5.5/5.8 WLAN bands and 2.5/3.5/5.5 GHz bands. Furthermore, this CPW-fed monopole antenna exhibits a nearly omnidirectional radiation pattern in the H-plane and a dipole-like radiation pattern in the E-plane. Also, good antenna gains for operating bands were obtained. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 57:268–273, 2015
