A compact coplanar-waveguide (CPW) fed patch antenna with simple defective ground structures (DGS) is presented in this work. By introducing the asymmetrical bevel like slits on the ground plane, wideband properties are achieved along with circular polarization. Several shapes of slots are introduced on the ground and finally proposed antenna is finalized to have wide bandwidth from 6.50-14.10 GHz with impedance bandwidth of 73.8 % and gain of the patch antenna at center frequency, 10.1 GHz is 4.2dBi. The simulated antenna finds application in C, X and Ku bands
