It is illustrated that the intermediate frequency (IF) in an IF zero-crossing detector (ZXD) for Bluetooth basic rate transmission affects the transmission quality. A simple optimisation strategy is presented and it is shown that simple IF ZXD structures benefit more from the optimal choice of the IF than hypothesis detectors.
