A novel and compact lowpass quasi-elliptic filter with harmonic-suppressed, sharp-rejection slope, wide and deep stop-band attenuation properties is presented. The filter is composed of CPW short-circuited resonators at the bottom of substrate and microstrip shunt open-circuited resonators at the top of substrate. Based on this hybrid microstrip/CPW structure, the LPF with excellent electrical performances is simulated and optimized by the momentum of method (MoM). A demonstration filter with 3 dB cutoff frequency at 3.6 GHz is designed, fabricated and measured. Measured results exhibit a good low-pass performance, including a low loss in the passband from 0.2 to 3.4 GHz, and wide and deep attenuation in the stopband from 4.2 to 16 GHz.
