Pasadena, Cal., May 18, 1906. To the Editor: —The editorial inThe Journal, March 17, 1906, page 804, on "Bedbugs and Disease Possibilities," interested me greatly. The reference to small animals as their source of food supply reminds me that when I resided in New York City a small bat that came into my rooms was covered with genuine bedbugs. These were especially numerous under the wings. It seems to me that this little animal could be a very great source of danger as a carrier of disease, as he has free access to our bedrooms, frequently coming directly from the worst lofts or hovels, or even pesthouses. Since this bug-infected bat came to me I have looked on these animals as a sure means of spreading bedbugs themselves.
