A NUMBER of agents are known to inhibit platelet function and potentially to prolong the bleeding time.1 Failure to obtain a history of ingestion of one of these agents frequently leads to misinterpretation of platelet abnormalities. In the course of studying platelet behavior in patients with coronary-artery disease we have observed that a contrast agent used in selective coronary angiography can produce profound alterations in platelet-function tests. Methods The contrast agents used for angiography (Renografin 76) and left ventricular cineangiography (Renovist II) are products of E.R.
