1. Ninety-two new-born infants with gastro-enteritis were investigated. Of these 47 were treated with chloramphenicol (75 mgm. per lb. of body-weight) and 45 were used as control. 2. Clinical improvement and change in the character of stools under antibiotic treatment occurred in a shorter time than in the control group. 3. Chloramphenicol was found to be an important adjunct to dietary and fluid therapy in this series.
