Lattice dynamics of sodium-comparison of de Launay and CGW models

The dispersion curves were calculated along various symmetry directions of sodium, a BCC structure, using both the de Launay models and the model proposed by Clark, Gazis and Wallis (CGW model) for angular forces. It was found that both models give nearly the same results, which agree very well with the experimental data. In the case of FCC structures, the two models give different results. The reason for this difference in the behaviour of the two models for FCC and BCC structures is discussed.
