XdT 12 and dT 5 XdT 6 , where X is 1-(4′-thio-β-d-ribofuranosyl)-thymine, were synthesized. The first oligonucleotide presents a better stability against calf spleen phosphodiesterase than natural dT 12 . The second one hybridizes with complementary sequence. However the X:A base pairing stability is lower than natural T:A one.
