30th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference, SIU 2022 -- 15 May 2022 through 18 May 2022 -- -- 182415 ; The VHF omni-directional range (VOR), which is a navigation aid system, can be adversely affected by artificial/natural obstacles in the surrounding area in the calculation of bearing estimation. Therefore, it is of great importance to calculate the degree of influence of the bearing estimation calculation of the VOR system when installing a VOR station or planning an artificial obstacle around an established VOR station. The size of the artificial construction and land to be considered in the analysis of the artificial/natural obstacle interaction with the VOR system may cause a long analysis time. In this study, it is suggested to use the Nvidia OptiX library's BVH (bounding volume hierarchy) technique to reduce the time cost in VOR interaction analysis. VOR interaction analyzes were carried out for different scenarios, together with the comparison to one of the common methods, KD-Tree. It has been observed that the proposed BVH-based method for VOR analysis significantly reduces the time cost. © 2022 IEEE.
