The percentage of losses obtained in the production or packaging line of any alimentary industry is a parameter than needs monitoring and control, because it supposes and important economic and environment cost each year for the company. The objective of this project is to reduce the percentage of losses in the packaging line SurtiSES of the Chupa Chups Company. SurtiSES is a line formed by 5 rotating plates and 5 meters that package the sweets with stick in bags, and that has the capacity to guaranty a range of flavours. A multi-disciplinary team was constituted to achieve the objectives the company had previously defined. A range of improvement actions will be implemented following the World Class Manufacturing methodology, a system with inherent tools to achieve absolute excellence in fabrication plants. The assessment of each improvement action is done through the results obtained by the losse percentage in each line and of the description of the losses. That helps us decide if the improvement action can be implemented and standardized or must be discarded. At the end of this study a reduction of 47% of the losses in line has been achieved (at first, 2,3% and in the end 1,07%) with the implementation and standardization of 4 improvement action proposals (roller changes, the creation of OPL for mounting and dismantling plates, new allen keys and revisions of the ELIL).
