Objectives: evaluate pregnant women’s knowledge and behavior of toxoplasmosis, listeriosis and Cytomégalovirus (CMV) in Alpes-Maritimes, France. Method: multicentric cross-sectional epidemiological study (June 14th to December 6th, 2019), by asking pregnant women and women in immediate postpartum to fill out questionnaires in four maternity hospitals in the Alpes-Maritimes. Results: the 305 patients studied share similar socio-economic characteristics with the French population, according to the perinatal survey of 2016. 94%, 73% and 39% of the patients have, respectively, already heard of toxoplasmosis, listeriosis and CMV. 42% knew the consequences of toxoplasmosis, 13% for listeriosis and 9% for CMV. 71% were aware of the means of contamination for toxoplasmosis, 40% for listeriosis and 42% for CMV. Only 28% of the population did not take the risk of transmitting one of these infections, 29% took a risk of toxoplasma infection, 36% for listeriosis and 43% for CMV. Age, education, hospital follow-up, gestation and knowledge of one's serological status at CMV are factors that positively influence patients' knowledge. However, these factors do not influence their behavior. Half of the patients who took a risk knew the means of contamination, but knew very little about the consequences of this risk. Two-thirds of the patients received differing information, depending on the case, of either infection. Conclusion: there is a lack of global knowledge, more pronounced for listeria and CMV. The consequences of these infections are poorly understood, which explains risky behaviors taken by patients. The information provided in consultation should be reassessed and readjusted. New technologies (smartphone app) could improve the patients compliance thanks to preventive measures.
