The dissertation investigates architectures and models of LC-VCO and LC-DCO and their implementation in nanometric and submicron integrated circuit (IC) technologies. A hypothesis is raised and proven that choosing the right architecture and application of integrated circuit technologies enables the creation of the required parameters and figure of merit of 2–10 GHz voltage and digitally controlled oscillators in nanometric and submicron integrated circuits. The aim of the thesis is to create blocks of 2–10 GHz LC-VCO and LC-DCO that allow to achieve parameters of the oscillators required for applications in up to 10 GHz multistandard multiband wireless transceivers implemented in nanometric and submicron CMOS IC technologies. The following tasks were approached in the work: the architectures of LC-VCO and LC-DCO in different CMOS IC technologies were investigated and optimal architecture suitable for integrated circuit creation were selected, new figures of merit for comparative analysis of LC-VCO and LC-DCO was proposed, LC-VCO and LC-DCO integrated circuits were created and investigated. The dissertation consists of introduction, three chapters, general conclusions, lists of references and author’s publications on the topic of the dissertation, summary in English and three annexes. The introduction reveals the investigated problem, importance of the thesis and the object of research and describes the purpose and tasks of the work, research methodology, scientific novelty, the practical significance of results examined in the dissertation, defended statements and the structure of the dissertation. Chapter 1 reviews the architectures of frequency oscillators, their application and main parameters. The figures of merit describing the estimation of the main parameters of the frequency oscillators for comparative analysis are reviewed. Chapter 2 presents the new FOMTT, FOMT2 figures of merit, which can be used to evaluate the basic parameters of the controlled oscillarors by obtaining one indicator for comparative analysis. Also, approaches to improve the quality of the inductor are provided. In chapter 3, using simulation and experimental methods, LC-VCOs and LC-DCOs and additional blocks are created and tested. 7 articles on the subject of the dissertation are published: 2 articles – in the Clarivate Analytics Web of Science database, 3 – in international conference publications which are referred by Clarivate Analytics database Proceedings, 2 – in scientific journal listed in other international databases. 12 presentations on the subject of the dissertation have been given at national and international conferences.
