The need to discuss human values in the school environment is a reality in the context of elementary school, however there are controversies before what teachers understand by human values. Starting from the functionalist theory, the values serve as a guide of human actions. This function applied to the teaching-learning reality may explain significant developments in the education of children. In the face of this fact, what elementary school teachers understand by human values? What are the values that this group prioritize? In this sense, the research has the general objective to know the evaluation priorities of elementary school teachers, having as specific objectives, to check what teachers understand by human values. Therefore, it delineated an exploratory research, descriptive with quantitative and qualitative character. It counted with the participation of 10 elementary school teachers of public school system from the state of Paraíba. The instruments used were: a sociodemographic questionnaire, an instrument for the Natural Semantic Networks (NSN) and the Basic Values Questionnaire (BVQ). The results showed that the knowledge of elementary school teachers about human values is not enough to adopt educational measures for knowledge transmission in values to the process of teaching students' learning. Nevertheless, the results also showed that their evaluative priorities need to be rebuilt. The study made possible a unique contribution to the institutional slop of Psychopedagogy., which area that it is also proposed to provide better advice to teachers, regarding the full realization of learning. ; A necessidade de se discutir os valores humanos no ambiente escolar é uma realidade no contexto do ensino fundamental, no entanto há controversas diante do que professores entendem por valores humanos.
