In this June 2013 interview, LTG James Terry, US Army, V Corps, discusses his deployment to Afghanistan as the Commander of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) Joint Command and V Corps Commander in 2012 through 2013 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). LTG Terry talks about the role of Corps in Afghanistan and the training V Corps completed prior to deployment. He describes how this was truly a coalition fight. He discusses the development of Afghans taking the lead and their air force capabilities. He shares the initiatives to combat the insider threat and what he sees were V Corps most important initiatives overall. LTG Terry closes his interview by stating, "The initiative to realign the command and control in the future to bring together IJC and NATO Training Mission - Afghanistan (NTM-A). It still yet to pass through the NAC, but the missions of the two separate three-star headquarters are now merging with SFA. It's time to bring them together in terms of command structures and I think at the end of the day that will prove itself. I would say that as a framework nation, the Corps the IJC and its ability to man, train and equip together, as it started with I Corps and as we evolved it, I would consider that an evolutionary initiative, I guess. I think, you really ought to sustain."
