He got a basket and took clown the clothes and gathered the pieces that were on the ground. When the basket loaded with the clothes was brought to the house, he heard a rap on fhe door or window. It was made by Mrs. Mercer, a neighbor, calling his attention to the fact that they were her own clothes! She had borrowed Mrs. Ottaway's lines. „? Guests for three tables of bridge were entertained at an evening dinner party Saturday March 8 in honor ol" Mrs. L. A. Long whose birthday it was. Tlie party was given in fhe Balrd Block by Mrs. Wendell Haley and Mrs. Langenberg in the rooms of the former. At the conclusion of the game high score awards went to Mrs. W. M. Anderson and Mr. Driggs. Mrs. Driggs and Mrs. Anderson scored the same number of points and card cutting favored the latter. Some of the guests adjourned to Mrs. Long's room where they were shown an attractive display of birthday gifts. We had a warm spell last month and the deep snow was converted into sheets of water in many places. Another snowfall came and blockaded the roads and streets for several clays. The snow plows were busy on the highway. A rotary plow turned in at our entrance and cut a wide swath for us. While it was in operation it attracted the attention of the classes some of which were released in order to allow the pupils a close-up view of fhe machine. It forced snow high up in the air, about seventy-five feet away from the road, ancl it had the appearance of a great spray of water escaping from a fifteen inch nozzle. Last February a large party near Cando, including the Wislers and Dixes got together for a four-clay rabbit hunt. The men formed in a great circle coming gradually together, and the rabbits were scared out of their hiding places, finally finding themselves enclosed in a human corral and slaughtered.
