Participant 36 discusses their experience using various food pantries in Stillwater after a personal injury including the Our Daily Bread food resource center. They describe relying on the assistance of the Salvation Army and LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) to pay bills during school breaks. Participant 36 explains their preference for the old way of going to multiple churches and food pantries rather than Our Daily Bread serving as the consolidated food pantry in town. They note the pleasant volunteers and services that Our Daily Bread offers and shares how they feel social stigmas prevent community members from using the center out of pride or fear of judgement. ; The Building a Bigger Table collection is a series of interviews with three distinct groups of individuals on the development of a Stillwater, OK Food Resource Center (FRC). This interview is part of Group 3, which includes interviews with community members living with food insecurity who have used the new FRC to access food and focus on exploring the operational strategies and practices of the new initiative.
