L'échéance de l'an 2000 s'approche inéluctablement, et chacun s'active pour les derniers préparatifs. Dans les établissements hospitaliers, des scénarios et des stratégies sont élaborés afin d'assurer la sécurité des usagers dans toutes les éventualités de défaillance des matériels et dispositifs nécessaires à une bonne exécution des soins médicaux. De même, les industriels se préoccupent des moyens à mettre en oeuvre pour pallier une défectuosité imprévue de leurs produits et répondre à toute demande de leurs clients. L'expérience de ces derniers mois est riche d'enseignements. La réflexion de tous les acteurs a permis de prendre une juste mesure des risques et des enjeux, pour les maîtriser précisément.
