Les points gâchette ont été découvert en Europe au cours du 19e siècle et ce concept a été développé et systématisé dans la dernière moitié du 20e siècle par Janet Travell, un médecin orthopédiste américain. En 1977, Melzack fit une corrélation entre points gâchette et points d'acupuncture. Cette corrélation n'était pas très précise, aussi, jusque très récemment, ce n'était pas compris ou mis en pratique par les acupuncteurs et les anesthésistes dans le monde. Au cours des dernières années, une tentative de combinaison des techniques d'acupuncture et points gâchette a été réalisée, sur la base d'une compréhension nouvelle et plus précise des points gâchette. Les divers problèmes ont été surmontés et nous avons développé un nouveau système de traitement. Nous souhaitons introduire la thérapeutique acupuncturale des points gâchette que nous avons aidé à développer.
