After approval by the German Bundesrat on 23 May, the HGV toll ordinance has now taken all the hurdles of the legislative process, and the matter is thus settled. The HGV toll will be introduced on German highways on 31 August 2003. It applies to all heavy goods vehicles with a total laden weight in excess of 12 tons.
