On peut remplacer l'oxydation complète de la liqueur blanche par l'élimination du thiosulfate de sodium de la liqueur blanche partiellement oxydée. Grâce à cette technologie basée sur l'échange d'ions, nous avons pu éliminer 93% du thiosulfate de sodium et des traces de sulfure de sodium résiduel présentes dans la liqueur. La solution caustique ainsi récupérée a été évaluée dans une séquence de blanchiment D0EpD1E2D2 et a offert d'aussi bons résultats que l'hydroxyde de sodium frais.
