Two original ligands (LH2 and L'H2) comprising amido groups adjacent to unsaturated fragments have been synthesized. While reaction of metallic ions with L'H2 results in breaking of the imine bonds, defined complexes of LH2 [N,N'-bis(1-methyl-3-oxo-1-butenyl)oxamide] with copper(II), nickel(II), cobalt(II) and cobalt (III) may be isolated. The copper(II) complexe (CuL) crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P21/c.
